Happiness Project
The Happiness Project was created to study the psychological aspect of happiness and share the knowledge we learned about happiness with teenagers. There was a long process we all had to go through before beginning the creation of our books which were either a children's book, a cook book, a field guide, or a graphic novel. Next came the research. We looked at what makes you happy, things such as lifestyle, flow, mindfulness, relationships, etc. We also looked at things that don't make you happy, like sadness, depression, and anxiety. We did research on what it does to you and why. We were put into groups of two, and each group had one research binder for the articles that we found. We learned about many topics, but we were only able to choose 6 to do research on. We had to SOAPSTone the articles that we had found which stands for; Speaker, Occasion, Audience, Purpose, Subject and Tone. In total, we had to have ; 6 elements, 3 articles both annotated and SOAPSToned for each element, 8 final topic papers from each element, a works cited page, and an annotated bibliography. Once all of the research was completed, the creation process for the book came. We did many rough drafts and got our work critiqued 3 times by 2 other groups.
I am most proud of the final product because everything looked great, the drawings were good, and the writing fit the story. It was all well written and looked really good. If I had to change something, it would probably to make the story a little longer and to fix the pages that were out of order. Our children's book were 6 short stories each about 5-6 pages. Each story represented one of our topics which were: relationships, lifestyle, extrinsic and intrinsic goals, hedonic adaptation, desire to help, and resilience.
